Volunteering at the shelter
Last Sunday, January 13, the girl
scouts and I, had a event at the Family Supportive
Housing Shelter, where we bought the ingredients and made the food from
scratch. We spent many hours planning and making this event successful.
Honestly, when we planned this, I didn’t think we can make it happen. But when
the day actually came, it turned out really good. The people, the food,
everything, were amazing. We worked together and even though we got distracted
a lot, we managed to finish in time and got to serve the food we made. When
each family came in, I had a huge smile on my face because they looked happy.
When people came to get seconds, I was thrilled because they actually liked
what we made! Seeing the smile on everyone’s faces made my day. I was afraid
that some people were going to be mean, but they turned out to be really nice
and thoughtful. And when they thanked us several times for being there, I was
ecstatic. They really liked what we made and I’m glad I was there. Volunteering
at the shelter and making this event work changed my views on things. That I
should be thankful for what I have and that when people have it rough, they
still keep a smile on their faces. I really like helping people out and I will
do it again in the future. My goal right now is to do things like volunteer at
the shelter or make people’s day. I hope we can do something like this again!!
